Quick Solicitation

I promise, I'm currently writing a post about my trip to Tennessee. But for the nonce, I'm soliciting advice. Another wedding to go to this weekend. Do I wear:

A. The more traditional gray two piece (slight herringbone pattern)

Or

B. The charcoal pinstripe three piece that makes me look vaguely like either a mobster or a fat cat from the 20s?

Poor quality pictures below.

And, just as importantly, what color shirt works?

charcoal grey for sure! but don't go with the black shirt -- too austere. wear a lighter color shirt: white works; light blue should be excellent.

Well, if it is an afternoon wedding I would go lighter. If it is a more formal evening wedding, maybe darker. It also depends on what you wear with it (shirt color). I don't know what your color options are. Purple and lavender tones can look very nice! A deep red would look good too. Of course, white is more old school (my grandmother thought that only white was truly formal). What colors do you have?

That deep red comment is for the darker suit at an evening wedding.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors? I would also go lighter for a garden wedding.

Pimp it with a three piece. White shirt, tie to match time of day and locale.

I thought the final outcome was great. Although, as you could tell by what I wore, I am morally, grammatically, and ecumenically opposed to the white shirt. Remember, Oone must be careful with the 3-piece suit because of its tendency to make one look like a banker, the bloated figure at the bottom of the cesspool of modernity.

Still no update? Shameful.

I vote for the darker one. Love it. But I agree, lighter shirt.
